Some asshole in a stolen truck, hit my car at around 3 am. Car is totaled. I am fucked.

{EDIT}I am the only person I know, who can sleep throught the 20 minutes that their life turns to shit...

No, of course not. Why would I? The car was paid for, and a 1996. My insurance company seems to think that it will get done, but I have no idea how. The owner of the truck was not the one driving it, and they didn't apprehend the guy who was.

i keep full coverage on my vehicles for just such a reason... but they don't really pay out anyway.

i have thought several times about changing my coverage but i always think the better of it. i pay 1,000 every six months for two vehicles coverage and have gotten nothing back so really i am just throwing my money in the garbage. "oh, no money, i don't want anything to do with you." hehehe.

Yeah, but I got screwed. Even because of my age, this is my first license. My rates sucked, and I just couldn't. Now I really wish I could have! I will figure something out.

I wonder what resources there are to help you with this sort of situation? This HAS to happen to other people. I would be willing to guess that there is some organization out there that can assist you with replacing your car at little or no cost. But where to look? Department of Social Services? Did you file a police report could you ask the departmen?
Did you not even have liability insurance?

I have liability, but since my car was parked and I was not in it, liability doesn't apply! Good news is I won't have to pay for any repairs on his car. I don't know what to do about mine. More good news: What I thought this morning was a broken axle, was just the tire and wheel turned at a really funky angle and pushed up onto the curb. So, other than the fact that I can not open the driver's side door AT ALL, the car is driveable (of course it had been hit by the previous owners and the passenger side door already didn't work well). I really thought that the passenger wheel was fucked this morning. The only other problem I see forthcoming, is that my mom won't be able to use the car anymore to get to her appts. She can't possibly climb over those seats. Oh, and I have no mirror on the drivers side, nor do I have a cover for my driver's side brake light. But, HE STARTED, and I drove and got gas. I will figure out the other shit as I can. THANK YOU POWERS THAT BE FOR NOT COMPLETELY FUCKING ME!!!!

I asked about liability b/c if you were at least insured, maybe your insurance co. might be able to help you out given your circumstances?
Who knows, maybe he is going to blow up and the powers that be are trying to make sure you get rid of him before he does.

DON'T SAY THAT!!! Arturo is a GOOD car...just in need of two fenders and a tail light. Otherwise he is damn pristine for a 10 year old sports sedan. And as for the insurance...THIS IS NEW MEXICO! The law stipulates that in these circumstances that neither the owner of a stolen vehicle nor his insurance is liable for damages...they must be recouped from the criminal. However...THE KICKER to this that hasn't been written was that the driver and passengers SAW the cop flip a Uey and BAILED out of the truck before the COPS saw them and a few dozen yards before impact. We suspect it was an open door that took out the taillight because oddly there is no other damage along the car until the drivers mirror got sheared off and the truck tried to go MONSTER style over the front end...And this is all before the truck impacted her OTHER car thats non-running. A beautiful day on John St tis was.

damn. I am so sorry, i know that I would be freaking out in this situation, at least if the car is driveable, it doesnt matter what it looks like, if the lights work that is..My Mom used to have an old pacer, and the passenger side door would not open, after a while, niether would the drivers, we had to put my nieghbor in the trunk when she went into labor, her BF had left somewhere with thier car, and she could not wait, so she just kind rolled into the back, and we took her to the hospital.
