i had gestational diabetes. it went away. though i'm paranoid about sugar now.
i had a midwife who was working under the auspices of an OB, and i never actually met him. but that's how they covered my change to "high risk" status.
but that was in CA. i don't know what the laws are in NM. but that sucks. i was dreadfully grateful to have my midwife. she was soooo supportive.

the last nine weeks can make a big difference. particularly if they decide you have to go see a neonatologist. i didn't want to have to get sonograms every week the last month. i remembered how much a fuss the kiddo kicked up at five months along. didn't want to give him another headache.
but, again, i don't know if treatment standards are different here.

anyway, if you have any questions, feel free to ask. it helped me to have someone to talk to (my grandmother had GD with all her kids, too. though they didn't treat it back then. she knew a thing or two about dealing with diabetes.)
