pandorablue: (Rawr!!!)
This has happened to a few of my favorite groups and some friends favorite groups. So now a nice little Public Announcement:

If one of the comms you belong to all of a sudden has a Moderator Post that says they are closing the comm and links you to an outside source,

DO NOT CLICK THE LINKS!!!

It is a hack. I have heard varying things of what it does, anywhere between it is a keylogger to it is a virus. Not sure if it is related, but I ended up having to wipe my hard drive shortly after I clicked on one of these links because I had a really nasty rootkit that couldn't be removed (like I said, could be unrelated, but it was odd timing).

The hacker is taking over and changing passwords to the Mod's email address tied to the LJ Comm.

1- DO NOT CLICK ON THEM.
2- EMAIL OTHER MODS, PM OTHER MODS, CALL OTHER MODS IF YOU KNOW THEM PERSONALLY. LET THEM KNOW ABOUT IT (other mods of the comm if there are any).
3- REPORT THE ENTRY TO LJ (CLICK ON THE FLAG BUTTON)
4- DON'T CLICK LINKS!!!

If you do happen to click the links, run a virus scan immediately!!!!

Here is the screencap of what the post may look like:

Also: Please cross post to save others the hassle of clicking the damn links.
