It makes sense that you didn't lose much weight from doing yoga. It may develop muscle, but it doesn't get your heart rate up. I'm sure you know this already, but aerobic exercise is the best way to lose weight. I used to work out a lot and I've read many books on the subject. There are all kinds of scientific ways to figure out where your heart rate should be, but the most useful one I found is to get your heart rate up to the point where it's a little difficult to carry on a conversation. Not hard, just a little difficult. Do you take walks? I think that's the best way to get started. No equipment and it doesn't cost anything, just make sure you walk fast enough to do some good. Another thing, it generally takes about 12 to 13 minutes of constant aerobic exercise before the body starts burning fat. Before that you're just burning sugar.
